Natalie Portman's Shaved Head

so i was talking to Patrick from Natalie Portman's Shaved Head and he agreed to answer a few questions for me. I'll be using them for a paper i am doing in school, but i also thought you people might really enjoy it :)

1. i know your band name is taken from 'V for Vendetta' but what inspired you to choose 'natalie portman's shaved head' what was so enticing about the movie for you?
We actually chose the name long before the movie was released, back when the entertainment news shows were reporting on Natalie's new hairdo a lot and it was a hot topic at school. We decided to use the name on a whim for a class game and then later applied it to our little fledgling band at the time. It just stuck. And actually, I still haven't seen the movie...

2. What is something that really gets you? A thing people do that really points out the idiocy of modern day people. An irksome habit of our common society. something that really gets you thinking to yourself "what an idiot."
I try not to focus on things that make me think "what an idiot." There's no time for that! I'm just doing my own thing, trying to make people have fun and have fun with them. It'd be much easier to tell you a bunch of things I love.

3. What is one of the funest experiences you have had on the road?
It's hard to pick just one... but anytime we tour with CSS we have a lot of fun. They are one of our favorite bands and really cool to hang out with when we've toured with them. I remember just chilling out with them backstage, taking stupid pictures and spying on the audience through the curtains. Also, anytime we're onstage performing for people is pretty much a highlight.

4. If you could spend a day in anyone else’s shoes who would it be, and why? (It can be a character from a novel or someone who has already passed away)
It might be kind of silly, but right now I might choose Rivers Cuomo from Weezer. I fell in love with Weezer in my crucial early-teen music years, and have loved them since. Rivers is a really amazing songwriter and a very interesting person. I would just be cool to live his life, maybe write some songs. I think I'd try to get into some exclusive Hollywood club too.
5. What is the craziest/most insane thing one of your fans has done?
Well, the more crazy things I cant really talk about... But one time recently two fans drove some 850 miles from San Francisco to Seattle just for our show. That was pretty amazing. Then there's just been general audience insanity: crowd surfing, moshing, freak dancing, you name it.

6. Is there any question you wish someone would ask you, a question you have been dying to answer but never get to? If so, please share. If not, that’s ok too.
That's a pretty good question. I think interviewers could be more creative with their questions, but there isn't really anything I am dying to answer. I like a little mystery.
he really was just so much fun to chat with. he is not for sure one of my new heroes :) he is so cheerful and nice. I really with NPSH good luck over the next few years. they are amazingly talented musically.

I cannot believe i have let this much time pass without updating my blog!
I didn't even give myself time to really get into it.

Well now I'm back and plan on getting really into this!

i just moved to Alexandria Virginia this past summer and have just gotten accustomed to the new area. My new school is completely amazing, from the teachers and staff all the way down to the students. I really have had such a wonderful experience and all my new friends have made it an easy transfer from my small hometown in Ohio.

I'll have more updates and news soon.

rainy aftermath

this sunday was a particularly rainy, yet relaxing, day. after spending the majority of the day in doors i decided to take pictures of my outfit. i think that the wet rainy atmosphere ads to the photos. i thought it was cute.

pants: from joe's
scarf: from abercrombie & fitch
tank: from j. jill
head band: gap

there really isnt anything special about the outfit, i just thought it has a simple attractive quality about it. the pants fit snugly around my buttox but then from the upper thigh began to flair, the bottoms of the legs almost give off the appearance of a skirt. very flowy and comfortable, but what would that sort of a cut be called?

Lets talk American Apparel.

lately i have been finding myself enthralled with american apparel. they have all the bright flashy things that intrigue me. though much of it is also just your basic pieces like tank tops, they also cover things like metallic leggings and bathing suits. although i think that the majority of the clothing they sell would only look good on a petite figure. feel free to prove me wrong :)

i know that these shorts are about to become my favorites. american appaeral.

Nothing in Reality is Enough

So this past winter I went on the GS winter retreat and I, just today, found the note book I used for my notes. I just thought I would post them up here. I love reading over them and each time I do I find that I am able to understand it on another level.

The world tells you to go to your own space, your own life. You can find any escape, just get away. Find what ever it is that helps you escape. Drugs. Alcohol. Eventually you will find that these escapes are empty. These things lead you no where. Don't be a broken person, strive for more. Do more than you think you can. Don't waist yourself away. Are getting good grades living? No, no its not. Something more to life is there. I want more in life, I need more.
Think of the world as a math problem, X being your life. if you just erase, you don't solve for X. You have to face and deal with your problem to find the answer to X. Life has depression, sadness, distraction, excitement, struggles, ect. you cant erase any of those things in life. if you go on ignoring the existence of these things, you will find that you see yourself as worthless. In the end you realize reality isn't enough. How can i solve this?
1.) Find something that makes me happy & take it. If you are satisfied then live your life and be happy.
2.) Maybe finding something that satisfies your inner desires is a bit more complicated. You need to know that you can find it. Know you have the strength to persist and in time, you will find happiness.
3.) Have the "life is a bitch, and then you die." attitude. let me tell you now, it doesn't take you far.
4.) Life has an answer & we need to find it. it is beyond life and beyond reality.

How will you live?

Dream concert.

Here is a quick little list of a few bands that i feel are under appreciated. my music taste varies a lot. i like music all the way from the Beatles (classic rock) to job for a cowboy(death metal) although the majority of it is more...i guess indie rock? i just really appreciate music with a meaning. i love hearing something beautiful. i love looking up lyrics and seeing the knowledge someone could put into a song. i appreciate when the beautiful little things that oh so often seem to get overlooked are acknowledged. i firmly believe that beauty is in everything if you really have an open heart and look deep enough. back onto subject, here is the little list.

Tilly and the Wall
i love this band. i think they are perfectly original. they have a cute and funky style about them. not to mention there soul reason for my love, there music. they have a tap dancer, come on! who could beat that? http://www.myspace.com/officialtillyandthewall

The Fences
these two guys are not that popular yet, i cant wait for them to get there though! you need to check them out if you haven't heard much about them yet. http://www.myspace.com/fencesvswolf

The Greates
This band is so cute. they get me moving. they are neat and i think they have a bit of a different sound. totally worth having on my iPod. They (also) have such a great style and feel to them. http://www.myspace.com/thegrates

Natalie Portman's Shaved Head

this band consists of Luke, Shaun, Claire, David, and Liam. i think they are on the rise in the music world. Just look at there band name, who does not love that! http://www.myspace.com/natalieportmansshavedhead

HOT IQs

so this band makes me smile all the time. i think that the voices in this band are so unique. i love what they sing about and even there instrumentals can pwn you. http://www.myspace.com/hotiqs

The Teenagers

so its 3 boys. although i think its safe to say that their sound is a little off, its still totally enthralling. every time i listen to them, i laugh. they have deep voices and sing about some pretty odd things (check out the song 'Homecoming') haha, they are pretty all around rad. http://www.myspace.com/theteenagers

so of course there are a lot more. i just thought i would sit and write a quick little diddy about each of them and give you the link to there myspace pages. please spend some time listening to them. its totally not a waist.

Its a first

Although we preach "Don't Judge a Book by its Cover" I find that I always do. I find that within the first 30 seconds of meeting a person I have a fully formed impression of who I think or assume you might be. Later finding that my first judgment of you was completely off. the truth of the matter is that it takes an awfully long time to get to know someone.
Fashion and style contribute a great amount to someones first impression of you. Having great style can benefit you in more ways than you can even conceive. i know all of us have seen some crazy looking frumpy bag lady struggling down the street looking like a discombobulated mess. then think of a woman that you have seen that looks really cute, modern, and inspirational. I know I have witnessed that in many case scenarios. Not to say that conservative is the only way to dress to impress! There are so many different styles to choose from. Just don't fall between the cracks like our bag lady friend ;)
